General prepositions include g\u0113n \u8ddf (with), y&ograve;ng \u7528 (with an object), and t&igrave; \u66ff (for).<\/p>\n<p>  Movement prepositions are used to show movement in time or space. These Mandarin prepositions correspond to the English prepositions to, from, into, and out of.<\/p>\n<p>  There is one Mandarin preposition that does not refer to movement, but no<em><\/em>netheless refers to a location or time: z&agrave;i \u5728. This means at a location or time, as in z&agrave;i ji\u0101 \u5728 \u5bb6 (at home). Read more a<em><\/em>bout z&agrave;i \u5728.<\/p>\n<p>  &nbsp;Mandarin Movement Prepositions<\/p>\n<p>  The most common Mandarin Movement Prepositions are:<\/p>\n<p>  &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u9032 \/ \u8fdb &ndash; j&igrave;n &ndash; enter<br \/>  &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u51fa &ndash; ch\u016b &ndash; outwards<br \/>  &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u5f80 &ndash; w\u01ceng &ndash; towards<br \/>  &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u5411 &ndash; xi&agrave;ng &ndash; towards<br \/>  &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u5230 &ndash; d&agrave;o &ndash; to (a location or time)<br \/>  &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u5f9e \/ \u4ece &ndash; c&oacute;ng &ndash; from (a location or time)<\/p>\n<p>  Using Mandarin Movement Prepositions<\/p>\n<p>  The object of a Mandarin preposition comes directly after the preposition, and the OBJECT + PREPOSITION phrase (the Prepositio<em><\/em>nal Phrase or PP) comes before the verb, as in this example:<\/p>\n<p>  &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; W\u01d2 d&agrave;o T&aacute;ib\u011bi q&ugrave; le.<br \/>  &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u6211\u5230\u53f0\u5317\u53bb\u4e86\u3002<br \/>  &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I went to Taipei. <\/p>\n<p>  In the above example, the preposition is d&agrave;o \u5230, the object is T&aacute;ib\u011bi \u53f0\u5317, and the verb is q&ugrave; \u53bb.<\/p>\n<p>  Modifiers such as adverbs are placed either before the PP or after the verb&rsquo;s object:<\/p>\n<p>  &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; W\u01d2 m&iacute;ngti\u0101n hu&igrave; d&agrave;o T&aacute;ib\u011bi q&ugrave;.<br \/>  &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u6211\u660e\u5929\u6703\u5230\u53f0\u5317\u53bb\u3002<br \/>  &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u6211\u660e\u5929\u4f1a\u5230\u53f0\u5317\u53bb\u3002<br \/>  &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I will go to Taipei tomorrow.
