\u4e00\u70b9 is a great little word meaning “a little bit” or “somewhat“, and is very flexible in usage. It can be used before or after the object to indicate degrees either positive or negative. Its simple utility is enticing.<\/p>\n

1. \u6709\u70b9 (y\u01d2u di\u01cen)- a little bit, slightly<\/strong><\/p>\n

Note that when using \u6709\u70b9 instead of \u4e00\u70b9, it is generally used to describe either neutral or negative things.<\/p>\n

Example:<\/p>\n

qi\u0101n nián hòu rén lèi shà yàng sh\u01d2u zh\u01ceng n\u01ceo su\u014d shu\u01d0 y\u01d2u di\u01cen xià rén.

\u6bd4\u8f83 is primarily used to compare two comparable objects, but can also be used to indicate a slight degree.<\/p>\n

3. \u7a0d\u5fae (sh\u0101o w\u0113i)- a little, a trifle<\/strong><\/p>\n

More formal than \u4e00\u70b9, \u7a0d\u5fae always comes before the object you are modifying.<\/p>\n

4. \u7565 (lüè)- slightly, briefly<\/strong><\/p>\n

Also on the more formal side, use this to indicate either “slightly” or “roughly, a<\/em>bout“.<\/p>\n
