M: \u4e0a\u4e00\u8bfe\u6211\u4eec\u770b\u5230\u4e86\u4e00\u4e9b\u5f88\u53ef\u7231\u7684\u7334\u5b50 shàng y\u012b kè w\u01d2men kàn dào le yì xi\u0113 h\u011bn k\u011b’ài de hóuzi.<\/p>\n

S: Now we see a few chickens, a few dogs, and some pigs.<\/p>\n

M: \u73b0\u5728\u6211\u4eec\u770b\u5230\u4e86\u4e00\u4e9b\u9e21, \u4e00\u4e9b\u72d7\uff0c\u8fd8\u6709\u4e00\u4e9b\u732a xiànzài w\u01d2men kàn dào le yìxi\u0113 j\u012b, yìxi\u0113 g\u01d2u, hái y\u01d2u yìxi\u0113 zh\u016b.<\/p>\n

M: And now we’ve learnt all the 12 dòngwù of the 12-year cycle on the Chinese lunar calendar.<\/p>\n

M: The tenth animal is the chicken. \u7b2c\u5341\u4e2a\u52a8\u7269\u662f\u9e21 Say it with me everybody, dì shí ge dòngwù shì j\u012b. F\u0113icháng h\u01ceo.<\/p>\n

S: Chicken, \u9e21 JI j\u012b. Remember we learnt it in the restaurant?<\/p>\n

M: So what does this mean? \u6211\u5f88\u559c\u6b22\u9e21\u8089. Duì le! I really like chicken. The \u8089, of course, means ‘meat’.<\/p>\n

S: And what does this mean? \u7b2c\u5341\u4e00\u4e2a\u52a8\u7269\u662f\u72d7. Méi cuò. The 11th animal is the dog, g\u01d2u, which we met in our recent suspense story. All together, The 11th animal is the dog.<\/p>\n

M: Dì shíy\u012b ge dòngwù shì g\u01d2u, dì shíy\u012b ge dòngwù shì g\u01d2u. H\u011bn h\u01ceo. And the 12th is the pig \u7b2c\u5341\u4e8c\u4e2a\u662f\u732a dì shí èr ge, zuì hòu yí ge, shì zh\u016b.<\/p>\n

S: We also met zh\u016b, pig, in the restaurant. Hey, let’s see if you can say, I don’t eat pork, I o<\/em>nly eat chicken. Only, remember, is \u53ea zh\u012b. M: Did you hear how we said ‘a few’ ‘some’? Yes, it’s \u4e00\u4e9b YI XIE yì xi\u0113. Like in yìxi\u0113 j\u012b, yìxi\u0113 g\u01d2u, hái y\u01d2u yìxi\u0113 zh\u016b.<\/p>\n

S: Yi4xie1 can also mean ‘a little’, as when I say, There’s o<\/em>nly a little, I’m afraid it’s not enough. \u53ea\u6709\u8fd9\u4e00\u4e9b\uff0c\u6211\u6015\u4e0d\u591f\u5427.<\/p>\n

M: Say it with me, zh\u01d0 y\u01d2u zhè y\u012b xi\u0113, w\u01d2 pà bú gòu ba. Again, zh\u01d0 y\u01d2u zhè y\u012b xi\u0113, w\u01d2 pà bú gòu ba.<\/p>\n
