M. So we’ll co<\/em>ntinue on our way, and learn to say ‘be careful!’ and ‘a bit slower’ and more.<\/p>\n

S. We cycle to the Yíhéyuán. \u6211\u4eec\u9a91\u8f66\u5230\u9890\u548c\u56ed\u53bb w\u01d2men qích\u0113 dào Yíhéyuán qù.<\/p>\n

M. You have to be careful. \u4f60\u8981\u5c0f\u5fc3 n\u01d0 yào xi\u01ceox\u012bn.<\/p>\n

M. And, You have to be careful. \u4f60\u8981\u5c0f\u5fc3 n\u01d0 yào xi\u01ceox\u012bn. \u5c0f\u5fc3 XIAO XIN xi\u01ceox\u012bn, literally, ‘small heart’, and it means ‘careful’.<\/p>\n

S. So say it, everybody, pretend you are warning someone. Xi\u01ceox\u012bn, xi\u01ceox\u012bn.<\/p>\n

M. You should be a bit careful. \u4f60\u5e94\u8be5\u5c0f\u5fc3\u4e00\u70b9 y\u012bngg\u0101i YING GAI y\u012bngg\u0101i, ‘should’, or ‘ought to’. yì di\u01cen YI DIAN yì di\u01cenr, ‘a bit’ or ‘a little bit’. So, we can say, xi\u01ceox\u012bn, or, much the same thing, xi\u01ceox\u012bn yì di\u01cen.<\/p>\n

S. Don’t cycle too fast. \u522b\u9a91\u592a\u5feb bié qí tài kuài. I should cycle a bit slowly. \u6211\u5e94\u8be5\u9a91\u6162\u70b9w\u01d2 y\u012bngg\u0101i qí màn di\u01cen.<\/p>\n

M. Notice something? Sometimes we can omit the ‘yì’ in ‘yì di\u01cen’ when the phrase comes after an adjective. So, try to say, ‘please speak a bit slower. Mei2cuo4 \u8bf7\u4f60\u8bf4\u6162\u70b9. Or, q\u01d0ng n\u01d0 shu\u014d màn yì di\u01cen. \u4e00\u6837\uff0cthe same, \u4e00\u6837\u3002<\/p>\n

S. And can you say, ‘you should eat a bit slower.’ H\u011bn h\u01ceo, \u4f60\u5e94\u8be5\u5403\u6162\u70b9\uff0cor, n\u01d0 y\u012bngg\u0101i ch\u012b màn yìdi\u01cen.<\/p>\n

M. But, not too slowly. \u4f46\u662f\uff0c\u4e0d\u8981\u592a\u6162 dànshì, bú yào tài màn.<\/p>\n

M. We’ll finish with the dialogue again. Try to repeat it out loud with us. Here we go.<\/p>\n
