One way of remembering characters is to make up "stories" which would make "sense" to yourself. For instance, in <\/span><\/span>\u4f11<\/span> <\/span>xi\u016b <\/span>to rest<\/i>, the radical on the left, <\/span><\/span>\u4ebb<\/span>means "a person", and the part on the right, <\/span><\/span>\u6728<\/span>, means wood or tree, so the made up "story" could be "a person is leaning against a tree to have a <\/span>rest<\/i>." Let’s look at another example; <\/span><\/span>\u961f<\/span> <\/span>duì <\/span>a queue<\/i>. The radical on the left, <\/span><\/span>\u961d<\/span>means plenty and the part on the right, <\/span><\/span>\u4eba<\/span> <\/span>means people, so one could say: "Plenty of people make a <\/span>queue<\/i>." Sometimes the radical doesn’t have enough to allow a story to be made up then one should use one’s imagination. For instance, in <\/span><\/span>\u529e<\/span> <\/span>bàn <\/span>to deal with<\/i> <\/span>the middle part of the character <\/span><\/span>\u529b<\/span> <\/span>means strength, and the two dots, <\/span><\/span>\u3001<\/span> <\/span>look like sweat, so one could say: "Nowadays one needs strength and sweat to <\/span>deal with <\/span><\/i>business."<\/span><\/p>\n
