Cai Lun (61 – 121), Han nationality, born in Guiyang prefecture during the Eastern Han Dynasty, is said to be the inventor of the papermaking process, one of the Four Wo<\/em>nders of China, also known as the The 100-A Ranking of the Most Influential People in History, and one of the “Best inventors in recorded history”. His courtesy name is Jingzhong.
\u6c38\u5143\u56db\u5e74\uff08\u516c\u514392\u5e74\uff09\uff0c\u8521\u4f26\u4efb\u5c1a\u65b9\u4ee4\u540e\uff0c\u5229\u7528\u4f9b\u804c\u4e4b\u4fbf\uff0c\u5e38\u5230\u4e61\u95f4\u4f5c\u574a\u5bdf\u770b\uff0c\u53d7\u8695\u5987\u542f\u53d1\uff0c\u6536\u96c6\u6811\u76ae\u3001\u5e9f\u9ebb\u3001\u7834\u5e03\u3001\u65e7\u9c7c\u7f51\u7b49\u539f\u6599\uff0c\u8bd5\u7528\u690d\u7269\u7ea4\u7ef4\u9020\u7eb8\uff0c\u7ec8\u4e8e\u9020\u51fa\u690d\u7269\u7ea4\u7ef4\u7eb8\u3002\u5143\u5174\u5143\u5e74\uff08\u516c\u5143105\u5e74\uff09\uff0c\u4ed6\u5c06\u9020\u7eb8\u8fc7\u7a0b\u3001\u65b9\u6cd5\u5199\u6210\u594f\u7ae0\uff0c\u8fde\u540c\u9020\u51fa\u6765\u7684\u690d\u7269\u7ea4\u7ef4\u7eb8\uff0c\u5448\u62a5\u6c49\u548c\u5e1d\uff0c\u548c\u5e1d\u5927\u52a0\u8d5e\u8d4f\uff0c\u8521\u4f26\u9020\u7eb8\u672f\u5f88\u5feb\u4f20\u5f00\u3002\u4eba\u4eec\u628a\u8fd9\u79cd\u7eb8\u79f0\u4e3a“\u8521\u4faf\u7eb8”\uff0c\u5168\u56fd“\u83ab\u4e0d\u4ece\u7528\u7109”\u3002
In 92 (the fourth year of Yo<\/em>ngyuan Reign), Cai Lun paid frequent visits to the countryside workshops during his term as Shangfang Ling (an office in charge of manufacturing instruments and weapons). Inspired by women who raised silkworms, he finally produced a kind of paper using bast fibres, hemp waste, old rags, and fishnets. In 105 (the first year of Yuanxing Reign), Cai Lun submitted his paper-making method and pieces of paper to Emperor He of Han. His method was stro<\/em>ngly lauded by Emperor He of Han and soon popularized. This kind of paper, known as Cai Hou Paper, was used across the country.
\u7f8e\u56fd\u4eba\u9ea6\u514b•\u54c8\u7279\u5728\u300a\u5f71\u54cd\u4eba\u7c7b\u5386\u53f2\u8fdb\u7a0b\u7684100\u540d\u4eba\u6392\u884c\u699c\u300b\u4e2d\uff0c\u5c06\u8521\u4f26\u6392\u5728\u7b2c\u4e03\u4f4d\uff0c\u8fdc\u8fdc\u6392\u5728\u6211\u4eec\u719f\u77e5\u7684\u54e5\u4f26\u5e03\u3001\u7231\u56e0\u65af\u5766\u3001\u8fbe\u5c14\u6587\u4e4b\u524d\u30022007\u5e74\uff0c\u7f8e\u56fd\u300a\u65f6\u4ee3\u300b\u5468\u520a\u8bc4\u9009\u548c\u516c\u5e03\u4eba\u7c7b“\u6709\u53f2\u4ee5\u6765\u6700\u4f73\u53d1\u660e\u5bb6”\uff0c\u8521\u4f26\u53c8\u699c\u4e0a\u6709\u540d\u30022008\u5e74\u5317\u4eac\u5965\u8fd0\u4f1a\u5f00\u5e55\u5f0f\uff0c\u7279\u522b\u5c55\u793a\u4e86\u8521\u4f26\u53d1\u660e\u7684\u9020\u7eb8\u672f\u3002
Cai Lun is ranked 7th by Michael Hart , an American in The 100-A Ranking of the Most Influential People in History, followed by household names, including Columbus, Einstein and Darwin. In 2007, Cai Lun was again listed as one of the “Best inventors in recorded history” by the American weekly Times. His paper-making process was specially displayed in the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
