What is the ‘God of Age’ Star (Tai Sui)?

Tai Sui doesn't actually exist as a real star! (It roughly corresponds to Jupiter, which takes 11.86 years to orbit earth, and is probably where the idea for the star came from). It's an imaginary star that changes position exactly 30 degrees of direction each year, i.e. orbiting Earth every 12 years exactly.

Tragic Goddess: Ruan Lingyu 悲剧女神阮玲玉

Ruan Lingyu (阮玲玉 Ruǎn Língyù) was born on April 26, 1910. She was a silent-film actress still remembered by many, left behind 29 films and the final message, "gossip can kill," when she committed suicide in Shanghai on March 8, 1935. As one of the most prominent Chinese film stars of the 1930s, her tragic death at the age of 24 led her to become an icon of Chinese cinema.

Golden Voice: Zhou Xuan 金嗓子周璇

Zhou Xuan (周璇 Zhōu Xuán ) was a popular Chinese singer for her golden voice, and a film actress in the early 20th century. By the 1940s, she had become one of the Seven great singing stars. She is probably the most well-known of the seven, as she had a concurrent movie career until 1953.

SwordsmanⅡ笑傲江湖之东方不败(1992)

Today,I'd like to introduce a 1992 Hong Kong wuxia film, Swordsman II (笑傲江湖之东方不败xiào' àojiānghú zhī Dōngfāng Bùbài ). It is also known as The Legend of the Swordsman. It was directed by Ching Siu-tung and Stanley Tong and written by Hanson Chan, Tang Pik-yin and Tsui Hark. The film was the second part of a trilogy. It starred Jet Li   (李连杰Li Liánjié) , Brigitte Lin, Rosamund Kwan and Michelle Reis. The film was adapted from Louis Cha's novel The Smiling, Proud Wanderer. The theme song of the film, Xiao Hongchen (笑红尘 xiào hóngchén ), was performed by Sarah Chen. The theme song from The Swordsman, Chong Hoi Yat Sing Siu (沧海一声笑 cānghǎi y ì  shēng xiào ), was played in a few scenes in the film.

Winter is coming, as autumn is here

Believe it or not, it’s already autumn in China. August 7 marked the beginning of the fall season according to the 24 solar terms (二十四节气), a traditional Chinese supplementary calendar used to guide agricultural activities. Created during the Han Dynasty (206 B.C.- 220 A.D.), the calendar details 24 points in a year that coincide with seasonal change or a particular natural phenomenon, such as dashu (大暑), the great heat, or in this case liqiu (立秋), the beginning of autumn. Over time, various traditions came to be associated with the 24 solar terms and some of them are celebrated as festivals.

Chinese Cloisonne (Jing Tai Lan)

General Introduction
Cloisonne is a unique art form that originated in Beijing during the Yuan Dynasty (1271 – 1368). In the period titled 'Jingtai' during the Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644), the emperor who was very much interested in bronze-casting techniques, improved the color process, and created the bright blue that appealed to the Oriental aesthetic sense. After a processing breakthrough, most articles for his daily use were made of cloisonne; in time cloisonne became popular among the common people; their favorite called 'Jingtai Blue'.
