Ang Lee, his Chinese name is 李安(Lǐ Ān). He was born October 23, 1954, in Taiwan. He is not only a Asian descent film director, but also screenwriter and producer. Lee has directed a diverse set of films such as Sense and Sensibility (1995), Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000), which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, and Hulk (2003). He has won the Academy Award for Best Director twice, first for Brokeback Mountain (2005) and most recently for Life of Pi (2012). He is the first person of Asian descent to win the Oscar twice for Best Director. The Other Side of the Screen, Whitney Crothers Dilley has analyzed in detail the striking diversity of Lee's films, as well as Lee's recurring themes of alienation, marginalization, and repression.
李安,英文名是Ang Lee,生于1954年10月23日,祖籍台湾,华裔导演。李安是柏林电影节历史上,唯一能够两次夺得最佳电影的导演。李安亦是历史上唯一能于奥斯卡、英国电影学院奖以及金球奖三大世界性电影颁奖礼上夺得最佳导演的华人导演。李安在1999年执导的《卧虎藏龙》获得奥斯卡金像奖最佳外语片奖及三个技术奖项。2006年和2013年分别凭《断背山》和《少年派的奇幻漂流》赢得第78届奥斯卡金像奖和第85届奥斯卡金像奖最佳导演奖,是第一位获得该奖项的亚洲导演,也是至今唯一两度获得该奖项的亚洲导演。作家惠特尼·克羅瑟斯·迪利详细分析李安电影中蕴含的惊人的多样性,李安电影中常常出现的主体是:异化、边缘化和压抑。
