“八阵图”是由八种阵势组成的图形，用来操练军队或作战。这是三国时诸葛亮的一个创造。“盖”是“超过”的意思。“三分国”是指当时的魏、蜀、吴三国。

“八阵图(bázhèntú)"(the eight-sided formation) is a military lineup consisting of eight kinds of troop deployments, initiated by Zhuge Liang in the period of Three Kingdoms. It is designed to drill soldiers or conduct military operations. "盖(gài)" means “surpass”, and “三分国(sānfēnguó)” refers to the three kingdoms at that time: Wei, Shu and Wu.
