黔中道这个地方原本没有驴子,有个喜好多事的人用船运载了一头驴进入黔地。运到后却没有什么用处,把它放置在山下。老虎见到它,一看原来是个巨大的动物,把它当作神奇的东西。于是隐藏在树林中偷偷看它。老虎渐渐地走出来接近它,十分小心谨慎,不知道它是什么东西。

Lesson 034 Nice to Meet You .

 M: 朋友们,你们好! 我是曼丽. Wo shi ML.
S: Wo shi Stuart. ML, 我们在哪儿?
M: We’re in the hotel bar. Women zai bin’guan de jiuba.
S: Waiting for a few friends. Women zai deng ji ge peng you.
M: And maybe some strangers, so we might have to learn how to make introductions.
S: Right.
M: Ah, 玛丽来了. Mali lai le.
S: With a pengyou. Now, try to pick out how we say ‘to recognize’ or ‘know’ someone, ‘let me’, and to ‘introduce’. ML, do you recognize her friend? 你认识她的朋友吗? Ni renshi ta de peng you ma?
M: 不, 我不认识, wo bu renshi ta de pengyou.
MARY: Stuart, Manli, 你们好吗?
M/S: hen hao, 你呢, ni ne?
MARY: Wo ye hen hao. Let me introduce my friend. 让我介绍我的朋友,李建国. Rang wo jieshao wo de peng you, Li Jianguo.
M: 李先生, 很高兴认识你, li xiansheng, hen gao xing renshi ni. 我姓赵,赵曼丽. Wo xing Zhao, Zhao Manli.
LJG: 赵小姐, 很高兴认识你, hen gaoxing renshi ni.
M: 让我介绍白君士, rang wo jie shao Bai Junshi.
LJG: 白先生,很高兴认识你, Bai xiansheng, hen gaoxing renshi ni.
S: 李先生, 很高兴认识你, Li xiansheng, hen gaoxing renshi ni.
M: Now for the new stuff. Did you hear the word for ‘recognize’, or ‘know’ someone. Listen.
S: Do you know her friend? 你认识她的朋友吗?
M: Dui le. It’s renshi RENSHI renshi. Can you say ‘I know him’? …. Right, 我认识他, wo renshi ta.
S: Henhao. And what about ‘let me introduce’. Listen again.
MARY: Let me introduce my friend. 让我介绍我的朋友.
M: Dui le. Rang wo, let me, rang RANG rang, to let, or permit. Jieshao JIESHAO jieshao, ‘to introduce’. Let me introduce my friend. 让我介绍我的朋友.
S: The usual reply is, 很高兴认识你, very happy to know you, hen gaoxing renshi ni.
M: Finally, who is 白先生, Bai xiansheng? It’s Stuart, Mr. Bai. Xiansheng XIAN SHENG xiansheng, means Mr., and, like xiaojie, Miss, comes after the name.
S: Now the dialogue again. Full speed. ML, ni renshi ta de peng you ma?
M: Bu, wo bu renshi ta de pengyou.
S: Wo ye bu renshi ta.
MARY: Stuart, Manli, nimen hao ma?
M/S: Hen hao, ni ne?
MARY: Wo ye hen hao. Rang wo jieshao wo de peng you, Li Jianguo.
M: Li xiansheng, hen gao xing renshi ni. Wo xing Zhao, Zhao Manli.
LJG: Zhao xiaojie, hen gaoxing renshi ni.
M: Rang wo jieshao Bai Junshi.
LJG: Bai xiansheng, hen gaoxing renshi ni.
S: Li xiansheng, hen gaoxing renshi ni.
M: And we’re all so gaoxing we can finish the lesson.
