After I had trained for some time on the Wooden Dummy, I began to appreciate that it was more than just a strange-looking, upright wooden contraption with funny, "stick-man" half-arms and a clumsy-looking leg that was always in my way; it was a strangely dynamic sparring partner, the more so given that it was built as a more or less static "dummy".
