Qiandao Lake–Qiāndǎo Hú

Qiandao Lake–Qiāndǎo Hú Qiandao Lake (Chinese: 千岛湖, Pinyin: Qiāndǎo Hú, literally means Thousand Island Lake), a man-made lake located in Chun'an County, Zhejiang Province, east of China, formed after the completion of the Xin'an River hydroelectric station. 1,078 large islands dot the lake and a few thousand smaller ones are scattered across it. That's the reason why it's called thousand island lake in Chinese. The lake covers an area of 573 km² and has a storage capacity of 17.8 km³. The islands in the lake cover about 86 km².

What’s Chunyun?

Chunyun — Chūnyùn  Chunyun (Chinese: 春运; pinyin: Chūnyùn, literally means spring transport), also referred to as the Spring Festival travel season or the Chunyun period, is a period of travel in China with extremely high traffic load around the time of the Chinese New Year. The period usually begins 15 days before the Lunar New Year's Day and lasts for around 40 days. The number of passenger journeys during the Chunyun period has exceeded the population of China, hitting over 2 billion in 2008. It has been called the largest annual human migration in the world. Rail transport experiences the biggest challenge during the period, and myriad social problems have emerged.

Administrative divisions of Shanghai–Puxi area

Puxi area of Shanghai Brief indro Shanghai is one of the four direct-controlled municipalities of People's Republic of China, and is further divided into 16 districts and 1 county. There is no single downtown district in Shanghai as the urban core is scattered across several districts. Basically speaking, main part of Shanghai are divided into two parts: Puxi and Pudong. The character Pu is from a river in Shanghai–Huangpu river. Xi and dong in Chinese means west and east. So Puxi literally means westside of the river and Pudong means east side of the river.
