First time got to know watchtowers(a watchtower is a high building which gives a person a good view of the area around the place that they are guarding) in Guangdong(广东Guǎngdōng) was from the famous Chinese film Let the Bullets Fly, and I was shocked not only by the story but also by some architecture(the architecture of a building is the style in which it is designed and constructed) in it. They combine both the Chinese and western building styles including ancient Greek, Roman and Islamic ones, simple but revealing the deep sense of history. Compared with the ancient buildings I had visited before, watchtowers in the film seemed to be more modern.

To encounter nonconventional sites in Guilin City
When it comes to Guilin(桂林Guìlín) City, you may figure out the elegant karst(喀斯特Kāsītè) landscape of Li River, the poetic idyllic scenery in Yangshuo(阳朔Yángshuò), the amazing winding terraced fields in the Longsheng….however, Guilin and its surrounding counties offer more choices than that for a dissimilar Guilin tour other than the fixed itineraries on ads.
Intoxicating Guiyang
The Guiyang(贵阳Guìyáng), inhabited by more than 20 minorities, is a city of deep breath of life and local characteristics(the characteristics of a person or thing are the qualities or features that belong to them and make them recognizable). For those travel to Guiyang for the first time, food maybe the primary theme, the specialty Fish in Sour Soup, fried bean curd, deep-fried bean curd balls and potatoes in high streets and back lanes…However, Guiyang, also known as a summer resort, is more than that and definitely a superb choice to get away scorching sun for a cool summer vacation.
Our Trip to Sanya
I went to Sanya(三亚Sānyà) last week to visit my best friend Alina, who I had come to China with. Sanya is the southernmost part of the Hainan(海南Hǎinán) province, and at the same time the southernmost part of China. Hainan province is made up of about 200 islands in the South Chinese Sea and thanks to beautiful beaches and blue sea it also enjoys the reputation of being “Chinas Hawaii”.
My unforgettable Birthday in China
I feared the fact of getting older and did not expect anything spectacular(something that is spectacular is very impressive or dramatic) to happen. Being far away from home and my family and friends I got up and simply was looking forward to the evening with some German friends. But already during the first hours of the day I got calls and messages from friends home and in China(中国Zhōngguó).
Trip to Longsheng in China
I went to Longsheng(江龙胜Jiānglóngshèng) with two German friends, Basti and Fabian, and Basti’s parents to see the Longji Rice Terraces. They are located approximately 27 kilometers southeast of Longsheng County in China, a vast region of rice terraces and are the most amazing terraces in China(中国Zhōngguó). The construction began 700 years ago during Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), and continued until the early Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). The Longji Rice Terraces are the culmination of both the profound wisdom and strenuous labor of the Zhuang(壮族Zhuàngzú) people and cover an area of 66 square kilometers.
Family Reunion of Shanghai City
As I had departed from Germany in March, my father and brother Andi (18years old) wanted to visit me in China(中国Zhōngguó). As there are no direct flights to Guilin(桂林Guìlín) we decided to have our reunion in Shanghai(上海Shànghǎi). My brother and I met on Thursday in Pudong Airport. I had been waiting for this day for so long and was happy to see him for real.
Family Reunion in Shanghai of China
On Sunday morning we were picked up at 9am by our local tour guide Nancy for the day trip to Suzhou(苏州Sūzhōu) City. Suzhou is a famed silk production centre and a celebrated retreat brimming with gardens and canals(a canal is a long, narrow stretch of water that has been made for boats to travel along or to bring water to a particular area). The drive by car took us 2 hours. First of all we visited Humble Administrator’s Garden(拙政园Zhuōzhèng Yuán), a garden dating back to the 1500s. The architecture of this place was stunning. The creator of this garden had made use of pavilions, water and plants to become a unity.
Xi’an in China
Last week I spontaneously(spontaneous acts are not planned or arranged, but are done because someone suddenly wants to do them) decided to make a trip to the Xi’an(西安Xī’ān) City. On Friday night my flight took off and it lasted about 100minutes until I arrived at Xi’an airport. I took the airport express bus, which directly takes off in front of the exit. It costs 25RMB per person and transports you into the city center (to Melody Hotel next to the Bell Tower). After checking in I had a good sleep and got up the next morning.
Trip to Crown Cave
Sandy surprised me with an invitation for a farewell trip with all of my colleagues(your colleagues are the people you work with, especially in a professional job); I was very surprised and touched of.
