“小家子气” is used to describe a person who is not generous in his or her ways of dealing with people. It also refers to a person who is nervous in public.

“中国式” originated from Wang Hailing’s novel Chinese-Style Divorce. Then, in 2012, netizens created the phrases “中国式过马路” (Chinese-style crossing the street), which means that once a critical mass of people has formed, they can cross a road regardless of the traffic lights. Afterwards, there appeared on media outlets a large number of “Chinese-XX” phrases to describe problems common among Chinese people or in Chinese society. Some examples include “中国式接送孩子” (Chinese-style pick-ups and drop-offs for children ), “中国式相亲” (Chinese-style blind dates), “中国式插队” (Chinese-style cutting in line), all of which express questioning and self-deprecation.

淡定(dàndìng) to be steady and calm Usage: “淡定”是一种网络语言，指在危险、困难或压力面前依旧保持一种沉着、冷静的态度。
“淡定” is a phrase from the internet. It refers to someone who, when facing danger, difficulty, or pressure, still keeps calm and steady.

小清新 (xiǎoqīngxīn) fresh and clean Usage: “小清新”最初指的是一种以清新唯美、随意创作风格见长的音乐类型，也就是人们常说的Indie Pop。之后逐渐扩散到文学、电影、摄影等各种文化艺术领域，具有淡雅、自然、朴实、超脱的特点。在中国，偏清新、唯美的文艺作品，或生活方式深受清新风格影响的一批年轻人，也被叫做“小清新”。
“小清新” originally refered to a fresh, cute, and free style of music commonly known as Indie Pop. Gradually, it spread to a variety of cultural and artistic fields of literature, film, and photography, all with the characteristics of being elegant, natural, simple, and detached. In China, young people who prefer fresh, aesthetic literary and artistic works, or whose lifestyles have been influenced by this style, are also known as “小清新.”
