Top 10 landmarks in China:Summer Palace in Beijing

The Summer Palace lies in the northwestern outskirts of Beijing. It is the largest and best preserved royal garden in China. Occupying an area of 290 hectares, the park consists mainly of a hill, called Longevity Hill and a lake, Kunming Lake, with halls, towers, galleries, pavilions, bridges and islands dotted all over. Blending southern Chinese-style garden architecture with northern China's natural landscapes, the gardens are probably the best of their kind when it comes to Chinese garden architecture. In December 1998, UNESCO included the Summer Palace on its World Heritage List.

African lion replaced by the Tibetan mastiff

A China zoo has been forced to apologise after it tried to pass off a dog as a lion.中国一家动物园为其试图用狗冒充狮子向公众道歉。
Angry visitors to the People's Park in Luohe, Henan province, complained when the 'African lion' started barking.到河南漯河的人民公园参观的游客,听到这只“非洲狮”汪汪叫时都开始生气地抱怨起来。
Zoo staff said they had pretended the Tibetan mastiff was a lion because they could not afford the real thing, local media reported.当地媒体报道,动物园的工作人员说他们之所以用藏獒冒充狮子,是因为他们买不起真正的狮子。
Elsewhere in the zoo, visitors found a mongrel dog in the Timber wolf's cage and another pooch posing as a leopard in the big cat enclosure. Then in the reptile house, keepers had placed two giant sea cucumbers which they were trying to pass off as snakes.在动物园的其他地方,游客还发现一只杂种狗在大灰狼的笼子里,还有一只狗被放在大型猫科动物区冒充豹。在爬行动物区,饲养员放了两只巨大的海参,以此充当蛇。
One customer called Liu said: ''They're cheats. I paid good money to see the lion and all I got to see was a dog. The zoo is absolutely cheating us. I took my son there so he could hear the different sounds animals made but when we reached the cage where the African lion was supposed to be, the big animal in there started barking.'一位姓刘的游客说:“他们是骗子。我花了钱来看狮子,结果却看到了一只狗。动物园简直是在欺骗我们。我带着儿子来这,让他听听不同动物的叫声,但是我们到了非洲狮的笼子时,里面的狗却叫了起来。”
A spokesman for the zoo said: 'We're doing our best in tough economic times. If anyone is unhappy with our displays we will give back their money.一位动物园的发言人表示:“现在经济不景气,我们已经尽力了。如果有人不满意我们的展出,我们会把钱退给他们的。”

Top 10 landmarks in China:Temple of Heaven in Beijing

The Temple of Heaven, literally the Altar of Heaven, is a complex of Taoist buildings situated in southeastern Beijing. The Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911) visited the complex annually when they prayed to Heaven for good harvests. The temple complex covers an area of 273 hectares, about four times the size of the Forbidden City. The main buildings were built in 1420 under the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) by Emperor Yongleto worshipHeaven and Earth.

Top 10 landmarks in China:Big Buddha in Hong Kong

Big Buddha, also known as Tian Tan Buddha, is the world's largest outdoor bronze Buddha. Located on the peak of the Muyu Mountain, it was unveiled in December 1993. The buddha is 34-meter-tall including the lotus base. It weighs 250 tons and was welded by 202 pieces of bronze. It is surrounded by The Offerings of the Six Devas, six smaller bronze statues representing deities on their knees, offering flowers, incense, lamp, ointment, fruit, and music to the Buddha.

中国汉字听写大会 现三大小才女

2013年8月9日晚8:30第2轮中国汉字听写大会全民听写大赛中,有三位选手因表现出色受到网友和媒体的高度关注。周烨薇、李响悦和缤玛永宗被广大网友封为三大小才女,她们实力超凡,在后期的比赛中势必占有很大的优势。
晋级队的选手“周烨薇”,老师称她为“小天才”,9个月大的时候能认字,3岁的时候能认得三千多个汉字。在她准备上幼儿园时,老师建议她直接上小学,因为幼儿园所需认识的字她都能识出,但最终还是因为年龄太小没能提前进入小学。更值得一提的是,湖南队比赛中,每当队友成功听写后她都会为自己的小伙伴鼓励,竖起大拇指以表加油,从小就有团队的意识,将来必将成为祖国的栋梁之才!
继首轮的“晋级队”选手“刘浥尘”被众多网友封为“男神”后,第二轮也同样诞生了一位“女神”级的人物。来自内蒙古队的“李响悦”,在4名队友早早出局的情况下,一个人镇定的带领内蒙古队独战到最后,只可惜最终因小小的疏忽而败给了实力超群的湖南队,但其出色的表现却征服了电视机前的观众,被网友们纷纷热传讨论封为“女战神”。据了解,李响悦从小就喜欢读红楼梦,喜欢研究红楼梦里的词句,研究水平甚至达到了研究生的基准。竞赛时,在个别听写词不认识的情况下她还能正确的听写,靠得就是平时生活中和学习中的博学。对于后续的竞赛,众多粉丝对其充满信心,相信她一定能在本届《汉字听写》获得较高的殊荣。
第二轮《汉字听写》从4个代表队着装上最引人注目的莫过于云南代表队,当晚身穿极具民族特色的服装一登场,就让人眼前一亮。云南队的5位小选手都来自于云南的少数民族,从小接触汉字晚,有的甚至到了10岁才真正的接触到汉字。对于这些少数民族的孩子来说,这次参加《中国汉字听写大会》更多的是学习和增长见识。在5位小选手中,本场竞赛表现最为突出的是“缤玛永宗”,得到了节目组和网友的一致好评。

2013中国汉字听写大会 视频 复赛第三场

2013年8月16日晚8:30第3轮中国汉字听写大会全民听写测试火爆开启。参加本场比赛的有湖北省襄樊市第四中学代表队、山西省实验中学代表队、青海省西宁市虎台中学代表队和广东省惠州市第一中学代表队。
  
参加本场比赛的小选手势均力敌,大赛进行得异常紧张。然而,一个很小的失误有可能就会引发场上形势的大逆转。襄樊四中代表队的初赛成绩名列前茅,在赛前非常被看好,他们的准备也极充分。但就是因为一些听上去很简单的词汇,形势发生了巨变。其他三支队伍稳扎稳打,但失误亦不能避免。
  
总体来看,本场比赛跌宕起伏,有出师不利、刚一出场就因过度紧张而写错字的高手,也有反复涂改,终于在最后时刻写对的幸运儿,还有拿不定主意只能靠猜字、拼字作答却迟迟不敢提交答案的孩子。同时,本场词汇依旧是包罗万象,有您常说常用却很可能想不起来怎么写的词,也有并不常见的成语和专业用语。

Overview of Education in China中国教育概况

China Education(教育jiàoyù) is the largest education system in the world. On June 2013, there were 9.12 million students taking the China's National Higher Education Entrance Examination (Gao Kao)(高考gāokǎo). Investment in education accounts for about 4% of total GDP in China. In 1986, the Chinese government passed a compulsory education(义务教育yìwù jiàoyù) law, making nine years of education mandatory for all Chinese children. Top 10 landmarks in China:Xi’an City Wall in Xi’an

The existing wall was built between 1374 and 1378, making it over 600 years old. It is 12 meters high, 18 meters wide at the base and 15 meters wide at the top. It has four gates: Changle Gate in the east, Anding Gate in the west, Yongning Gate in the south and Anyuan Gate in the north. Xi'an's City Wall is one of the oldest and best preserved city walls in China and one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world.
